What We Believe To Be Important Essentials Of The Christian Faith

The Apostles' Creed *

"I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic** church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen."

* This Creed of the church as it is most familiarly known, is called the "Apostle's Creed". It has received this title because of its great antiquity; it dates from very early times in the Church, a half century or so from the last writings of the New Testament.

** universal

Statement Of Faith

The Bible is the unique Inspired Word of God and the finial authority of all faith and practice (2 Timothy 3:15-17).

The three persons of the Godhead, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, the great three in one, are Co-equal, Co-existent and Co-eternal (Matthew 28:18-20; John 10:27-30; Hebrews 9:14; 1 John 5:6-8).

Jesus Christ became the God man to die upon the cross for our sins, and only by faith in Him can we go to Heaven and be reconciled to the Father (Matthew 1:18-23; John 14:6; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8).

Man, a fallen creature, is a sinner and unable to save himself and be reconciled to God by his own merit and good works (Romans 3:20-24; 1 Corinthians 15:21-22; Ephesians 2:1-9; Titus 3:5).

Salvation is by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and is evidenced by repentance from sin and a life lived in obedience to God’s Word (Luke 24:47; John 14:15; Acts 2:38; Ephesians 2:8-9; 2 Timothy 1:9).

We must be born again by the Holy Spirit who indwells, sanctifies, empowers and seals the believer until the day of redemption (John 3:3-8, 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 4:30; 2 Thessalonians 2:13).

There is a Heaven for the believing just and a Hell for the unbelieving unrepentant rebellious and when we die we will go and spend eternity in one place or the other (Matthew 5:27-30; Luke 13:1-5, 23:39-43; John 14:1-3; Hebrews 9:27).

Jesus Christ is coming again personally and visibly in power and great glory to reign as an earthly King and to usher in the Eternal State, the Father being all in all (Acts 1:4-11; 1 Corinthians 15:14-28; Revelation 20:1-7, 21:1-5).

Christians should observe the ordinances of Baptism and The Lord's Table and associate with other Christians in worship, fellowship and service (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29; Hebrews 10:23-25).
